The Regional Consular Chamber is the privileged venue for dialogue between the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) and the main economic operators.

As an advisory body created by the Union Treaty, the Chamber is responsible for ensuring the effective involvement of the private sector in the UEMOA integration process, notably through:

  • Participation in the reflection on the integration process and the implementation of reforms adopted by the competent bodies of the Union
  • Promotion of trade and investment within the Union
  • Technical support to national chambers of commerce and their other members

At its own initiative or at the request of the Commission, the Chamber provides opinions on any matter relating to the achievement of the Union's objectives, in particular:

  • Commercial, fiscal, customs, and social legislation
  • Trade negotiations in which the Union participates
  • The creation and operation of stock or trade exchanges, economic observatories
  • Economic and monetary policy

The Chamber brings together national chambers of commerce, professional associations, and employers' organizations of the member states.

Its headquarters is located in Lome, Togo.
